The Bundjalung people of Northern New South Wales have utilised Tea Tree for medicinal purposes for thousands of years, employing crushed leaves for inhalation to alleviate coughs and colds, as well as applying poultices to treat wounds. The Bundjalung name for Tea Tree is ‘Kallara.’
Commercial distillation of tea tree leaves has been conducted for approximately 30 years. The oil possesses antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, rendering it effective for use in topical medications for skin infections, cuts, and abrasions, as well as in various household products.
